Julia Kelly is the award-winning author of sexy historical romances about smart women and the men who love them. She picked up her first romance novel and the bad habit of reading well past her bedtime when she was thirteen. Years later, she decided to try writing books of her own and never looked back. Julia also writes contemporary romances under the name Julia Blake.

As a struggling graduate student at Columbia University hiding from her master’s project by watching far too much Dancing With the Stars, she decided to try writing a romance to rekindle some of her creativity. She’s never looked back.

Julia’s delightfully charming historical romance trilogy from Pocket Star, The Governess Was Wicked, The Governess Was Wanton, and The Governess Was Wild, follows three best friends who are employed by different families, and all find themselves wanting something they can’t have. Her next historical series, The Matchmaker of Edinburgh, will begin with the release of The Look of Love in October 2017, followed by The Taste of Temptation and The Allure of Attraction in 2018.

Julia won the 2014 Contemporary Romance Chapter’s Stiletto Award for her work sports romance Second Chance Girl which is set to be published by Pocket Star in 2017. Julia is the author of Seduction in the Snow and The Wedding Week. She is also a founding member of First Draught, a monthly YouTube show and podcast exploring writing and romance with a drink in hand.

First Draught

First Draught is a monthly podcast and YouTube show all about writing craft and career. The show, which features Alexis Anne, Mary Chris Escobar, and Julia Kelly as well as special guests, premieres on the first Tuesday of every month at on iTunes, Soundcloud, YouTube, firstdraughtwriting.com, and in First Draught’s designated newsletter.
